The dietetic unit is responsible for attending to the medical nutrition needs of patients in the hospital. Patients needing this service are referred by doctors and specialists to see the dietician on both out-patient and in-patient basis. Patients are then given appointments to see the dietician. New In-patients are attended to as and when they are referred to the dietician. The main objective of the dietetic unit is to help prevent and manage diet related diseases.

The unit is also responsible for the preparation of special diets for patients on admission with diet related diseases. The unit also serves food to normal diet patients on the wards. The food for the normal diet patients is bought from the Trust Canteen (TTH-Osu and TSH-Sunkwa) and Notch Catering (TMCH-Tiorkor House). The unit ensures that meals are served right and timely to patients at the wards.
