Dr. Kojo Obeng

Dr. Kojo Nyarkoh Obeng is a healthcare professional with experience providing quality care within public and private health systems in Ghana and Nigeria.

He has established a strong reputation as a dependable clinician, healthcare administrator, and medical claims expert, blending technical medical expertise with a deep dedication to enhancing patient outcomes and streamlining healthcare processes.

With a professional career exceeding ten years, Dr. Obeng has held various leadership and clinical positions, including his current role as Acting Head of the Medical Claims Unit and Senior Medical Officer at The Trust Hospital Company Ltd., Accra. In this capacity, he oversees medical claims management, collaborates with health insurance providers, and guarantees precision and compliance in billing and reimbursement procedures. His prior role as Deputy Claims Manager at the same institution further underscored his competence in managing healthcare financing, clinical audit, and hospital insurance systems.

Clinically, Dr. Obeng possesses exceptional expertise across a wide spectrum of procedures and critical care services. He has practical experience in emergency medicine, encompassing the management of cardiac emergencies such as myocardial infarctions, as well as proficiency in basic and advanced life support, and intensive care interventions involving ventilator support and blood gas analysis. Additionally, he demonstrates high proficiency in ECG interpretation, radiograph analysis, and the execution of medical procedures including manual uterine evacuation, maternal deliveries, and emergency cardiac interventions.

Dr. Obeng’s leadership in hospital settings is complemented by his tenure at institutions such as Sanford World Clinics Ghana, where he served as Lead Medical Officer, and First Cardiology Consultants in Lagos, where he contributed as a Senior Medical Officer. His administrative and clinical expertise was demonstrated during his time at Health Solve Ltd. in Abuja, where he was Head of Clinical Services, and earlier at Lighthouse Mission Hospital and Fertility Centre in Ghana. At the Lighthouse Mission Hospital, he provided comprehensive outpatient care, ran antenatal clinics, and played a key role in maternal health, emergency care, and hospital finance administration through effective claims management and insurer engagements.

His postgraduate training comprises a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Ghana Medical School, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences. Furthermore, he has obtained certification to conduct implementation research focusing on infectious diseases of poverty through the United Nations Collaborative Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases. Throughout his professional career, he has served in several prominent hospitals, including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana’s principal healthcare institution; Tema General Hospital; Health Link Clinic; Lister Hospital; and Finney Hospital.

In each of these settings, he has demonstrated himself to be a compassionate doctor, respected by colleagues and patients alike for his bedside manner, sound judgment, and collaborative spirit.
