Raynold Kweku Obeng is a highly skilled and dedicated pharmacist with over a decade of progressive experience spanning clinical, administrative, and retail pharmacy practice in both the United Kingdom (UK) and Ghana. He is currently serving as the Acting Head of the Pharmacy Department at The Trust Hospital. In this role, he manages procurement, coordinates team performance, and drives operational efficiency across the unit.
Prior to his current position, Raynold served as Principal Pharmacist at The Trust Hospital, where he was responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations, dispensing medications, and providing expert patient counselling, particularly in the areas of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and diabetes management. His approach emphasises therapeutic efficacy, patient safety, and evidence-based pharmaceutical care.
Earlier in his career, Raynold acquired valuable experience in both hospital and community pharmacy settings through his roles at Boots Pharmacy (UK), Naj Pharmacy, and Stanmore Orthopaedic Hospital. These positions advanced his expertise in medication management and expanded his understanding of diverse healthcare environments.
Raynold demonstrates proficiency in cross-functional collaboration and has held the position of Secretary of the Drug and Therapeutic Committee, in addition to being a vital member of the Diabetic Education Team. His contributions to the development of the institution at The Trust Hospital encompass leading the development of the Pharmacy Manual, co-creating the Drug Account Policy, and authoring numerous Standard Operating Procedures, notably for emergency trolley management and medication delivery services.
With a Master’s degree in Pharmacy from De Montfort University, Leicester, and supplementary certifications in quality and safety, HIV/TB care, and customer service, Raynold offers a comprehensive, systems-oriented, and patient-centered approach to pharmaceutical care.
