Dr. Sharif Mahmud Khalid, PhD – Board Member

Sharif Mahmud Khalid is an accomplished academic and thought leader whose work sits at the convergence of scholarship, policy, and practice. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance and Economic Advisor to the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, roles that reflect both intellectual authority and national policy influence.

Sharif’s academic path spans some of the world’s leading universities. Beginning at the University of Cape Coast, he advanced his studies through the University of Sheffield, the University of Law, Oxford University, Aberdeen Business School and Henley Business School. His qualifications include a BA (Hons), MBA, Graduate Diploma in Law, MSc in Taxation (Oxford), MSc in Energy Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching, and a PhD from Henley Business School. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), UK.

Sharif has held senior academic appointments across the UK, including at Queen’s University Belfast, a Russell Group university, The University of Sheffield, University of East Anglia, and currently contributes to research and thought leadership as a Visiting Researcher in Digitalisation, Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Henley Business School. His research is published exclusively in Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) ranked journals, including Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Journal of Business Research, and Qualitative Research in Financial Markets. He has also authored numerous book chapters, reports and a monograph, and provides editorial oversight on reputed academic journals.

Beyond academia, Sharif’s work extends into consultancy, public policy, and impact-driven research. He has supervised several PhD students to completion and served as an external PhD examiner at leading international universities, including the University of Dundee and Nottingham Trent University. His advisory and thought leadership work has supported policy reform, institutional capacity-building, and development finance initiatives.
