Mr. Ernest Tawiah Nunoo is a seasoned corporate executive, banker, and governance professional with over thirty-five years of experience in financial services, strategic management, and business leadership across multiple sectors of the Ghanaian economy. He brings to the Board of The Trust Hospital strong financial acumen, executive insight, and extensive governance expertise.
He is the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Derby Group of Companies, where he provides strategic leadership over a diversified portfolio spanning construction, community and microfinance banking, automobile services, agriculture, travel and tourism, and hospitality. Under his leadership, the Group has strengthened governance structures, expanded its operations, and achieved sustained growth.
He also serves as Country Director at Michael Stevens Consulting Ghana, where he leads executive search, organisational development, and capacity-building initiatives for major public and private sector institutions.
Mr. Nunoo has held several senior leadership roles within the banking sector, notably at Merchant Bank (Ghana) Limited, where he served as Director of Retail Banking. In this role, he led retail strategy, branch expansion, product development, service quality improvement, and regulatory compliance, contributing significantly to the bank’s growth and earning industry recognition for innovation and customer service excellence. Earlier in his career at Ghana Commercial Bank, he played a key role in operations reform, systems analysis, and branch computerisation. He had also worked at Peat Marwuck Okoh and Co. (now KPMG) as an Aufit and Accountant Trainees.
Mr. Nunoo has considerable board experience, having served on the boards of National Investment Bank, Suhum Rural Bank, and Needs Microfinance Limited. He holds postgraduate diplomas in Business Operations from Cranfield School of Management, UK, and in Retail Banking from the BAI School of Retail Banking, University of Wisconsin–Madison as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
As a Board Member of The Trust Hospital, Mr. Nunoo contributes strategic guidance in financial governance, risk management, and institutional sustainability, supporting the Hospital’s commitment to strong governance and high-quality, patient-centred healthcare.
